What Ever Happened To… Bob Roop?

Bob Roop has no regrets. Professional wrestling turned out to be a good career move for the 58-year-old former Olympian.

“I met my wife when I was wrestling and today we have two beautiful children, boys ages 7 and 11,” says Roop when looking back on his 17-year career. “As a young man, I was fortunate enough to travel to places like Iraq, Europe, Australia, Japan and New Zealand, all through wrestling. Wrestling gave me a life lesson that you can’t get in any school.”

Brisco is outweighed 231 to 272 pounds by the huge Wright, one of the few nationally-ranked black wrestlers in the pro ranks.

Dusty Rhodes defeated the Mongolian Stomper in the feature wrestling match at the Miami Beach Auditorium last night.  Joe LeDuc won by disqualification over Cowboy Bill Watts for the Florida Heavyweight Championship.

Jack Brisco Loses But Still Wins

Professional wrestling’s world heavyweight champion lost a match but kept his title last night at Miami Beach Convention Center.  Dory Funk Jr. won by disqualification over Jack Brisco, but a title cannot change hands on a disqualification.

Dick Slater Whips Roop

The Palm Beach Post – March 11, 1975

Dick Slater won by disqualification over Bob Roop in professional wrestling at the West Palm Beach Auditorium, but Slater did not win Roop’s Florida Heavyweight title.
