750 See Tag Team Wrestling

Brattleboro Daily Reformer – April 21, 1956

A crowd of 750 was on hand last night at the Community Hall to see the feature event, four girls in an Australian Tag team match.  Darling Bambi Ball and Princess Ramona took the second and third falls of the match to win over Slave Girl Zoola and Alma Mills.  The three falls lasted for a total of 22 minutes.

The semi-final, a two out of three fall event with a 45-minute time limit, went to Rebel Bob Russell who pinned Danny Boy Arnold in the first and third falls.  This match lasted 30 minutes.  Jessie James pinned Dynamite Dunn in 23 minutes to take the lid-lifter.  Leo Justin was the referee.

Another wrestling card will be held next Friday.

600 Watch Mat Show

Brattleboro Daily Reformer – April 14, 1956

A crowd of 600 fans was on hand to welcome the wrestling season back last night at Community Hall.  In the feature attraction Slave Girl Zoolah was disqualified during the third fall of her match with Princess Ramona.

The semi-final went to Danny Boy Arnold who took the second and third falls from Dynamite Dunn.  The match lasted 36 minutes.  The lid-lifter was a draw between Bob Russell and Jesse James.  They went 30 minutes without either being able to pin the other.

Another wrestling show will be held next week, same time, same place.

Wrestling Returns With Friday Matches

Brattleboro Daily Reformer – April 9, 1956

Wrestling comes back to town Friday night with a three-match show beginning at 8:30 in the Community Building.  The feature will be a two out of three falls affair between Princess Ramona and Slave Girl Zoolah.

The semi-final exhibition will be between Danny Boy Arnold and Dan Dunn while the preliminary will find Rebel Bob Russell meeting Jesse James.

Princess Ramona will be one of the quartet to engage in a tag team match at Community Hall tomorrow night.  Others will be Slave Girl Zoolah, Alma Mills and Darling Bambi Ball.  The show gets underway at 8:30 p.m.

Two Cousins Are Too Much For Averoff

Park City Daily News – February 9, 1956

Chris Averoff tried to take on a couple of cousins at the Quonset last night and dropped a three-fall decision.

Averoff and Lefty Williams were even at a fall apiece when Chris discovered that referee Scotty Williams is a cousin of Lefty.

The Greek raved and ranted and wound up taking a poke at Scotty, who clamped him in a full nelson.  That set up an easy kayo blow for Lefty, who fell on Averoff for the win.

In the other co-feature, Zoolah the slave girl took Indian maiden Ramona Waukazo in straight falls with a cobra twist and reverse body slam.

Owensboro Messenger and Inquirer – February 26, 1956

Two return matches will highlight activity at the weekly wrestling bouts at the Sportscenter Monday night.

Jean “Slave Girl” Elbon, of Lincoln, Neb., will meet Ramona Waukazo, of Minneapolis, Minn., in a return match.  Miss Waukazo won last week, after Jean mistakenly thought the referee had given her the final fall.  The Indian maiden took advantage of the opportunity, pinning Miss Elbon to the mat for the final count.

A four-girl tag team match will  feature wrestling at the Brattleboro Arena Friday at 8:30 p. m. Slave Girl Zooleh and Alma Mills will team up to take on Bambi Ball and Princess Ramona in the main attraction.

Men on the agenda are Jesse James vs Dynamite Dunn and Rebel Bob Russell against Dan Arnold.
