McGuire Twins Face Tough Pair

Panama City News-Herald – March 24, 1974

THEY’RE MCGUIRES – Here are three McGuires.  The hefty ones are the McGuire Twins, 1,400 pounds between them, who will wrestle Thursday night at Rainbow Garden.  Promoter Rocky McGuire is in the center.

The famous McGuire Twins, with a total weight of 1,400 pounds between them, will take on Billy Spears and Gorgeous George, Jr., in a tag team wrestling match in one of the main events next Thursday night at Rainbow Garden.

The McGuire Twins usually wind up smearing their foes but Spears and George have proved tough in previous matches here and figure to be hard to handle.

McGuire Twins Squash Hines

Panama City News-Herald – March 30, 1974

The McGuire Twins, all 1,400 pounds of them, won their wrestling match at Rainbow Garden, but it had an unusual twist.  When Bad Boy Hines went to the aid of Billy Spears and Gorgeous George, they fled the ring, leaving Hines to be squashed between the twins.

Dick Dunn and Ken Lucas beat Hines and Rock Riddle in a tag match.  Riddle won from Chief Thundercloud, and Duke Miller won his match with The Medic, who unmasked and revealed himself as Tony Gonzalez.

Snow to Meet The Hornet

Evening Herald – June 14, 1972

ROCK HILL – Wrestling fans will be in for an unusual treat Tuesday night at 8:15 at the Rock Hill Armory.

Lt. Snow Roseboro of the Rock Hill Police Department has asked for and gotten a match with The Hornet that should give fans an exciting evening.

Lt. Snow will meet the Hornet in a wire cage so the wrestlers won’t be able to leave the ring.  There will be no referee with them so anything goes in the ring.

The Texas Menace will tackle Curtis Lockey in one preliminary match.  Ripper Ox will meet Baron Galento in another match and Rock Riddle will take on Lt. Mack George.

In a ladies match, Norma Gordon will meet Tammy Jones.

Due to an increase in matches, the prices for this week’s admission will be $3 for ringside, $2.50 for general admission and $1 for children under 12.

Giant Will Wrestle Tonight

The Modesto Bee – February 4, 1977

Andre the Giant will wrestle in Modesto tonight in a five-man tag match in the Uptown Arena, starting at 8:30 o’clock.

Andre, who is 7-foot-5 and weighs 485 pounds, will team with Pepper Gomez to meet the team of the Great Fuji and brothers Johnny and Jimmy Valiant.  The match will be over on hour, two-out-of-three falls.

In other bouts, Alberto Madril will face Mad Dog Vachon and Alexis Smirnoff will meet Rock Riddle.
