DiBiase Defeats Silento Rodriguez

Arizona Daily Star – August 16, 1962

Iron Mike DiBiase took the final two falls from Silento Rodriguez in last night’s wrestling main event at the Tucson Garden.

The semifinal was won by Rocky Colombo who took the last two falls from Ken Lucas while Big Jim Wright defeated Frankie Cain and Jack Bence beat Eddie Sharkey in the one fall preliminaries.

Challengers Cop Tag Team Crown

Arizona Daily Star – July 26, 1962

Challengers Frankie Cain and Rocky Columbo teamed to take the Western States Tag Team Championship away from Ken Lucas and Iron Mike DiBiase last night in professional wrestling before 1,100 spectators at Tucson Garden.

Cain and Columbo captured the first and third falls to dethrone Lucas and DiBiase.

Rocket Monroe took the second and third falls to whip Tito Montez in the semi-final.  In an elimination match for the City of Tucson Wrestling Championship, Dr Jerry Graham pinned Eddie Sharkey in 6:51 of the no time limit match.

McGuire Twins Here Monday

Panama City News-Herald – November 23, 1974

The McGuire Twins, all 1,320 pounds of them, will tackle three husky wrestlers in a handicap match Monday night at Rainbow Garden.

The McGuires will tangle with Dandy Jack Donovant, The Rassler and Jim White.

In other matches, starting at 8 p.m., Duke Miller meets the Wrestling Pro in a match requested by the other wrestlers, Ken Lucas faces the Chicago Mauler in a return match, Donovant takes on Ricky Fields, and Dick Dunn meets White.

McGuire Twins Face Tough Pair

THEY’RE MCGUIRES – Here are three McGuires.  The hefty ones are the McGuire Twins, 1,400 pounds between them, who will wrestle Thursday night at Rainbow Garden.  Promoter Rocky McGuire is in the center.

The famous McGuire Twins, with a total weight of 1,400 pounds between them, will take on Billy Spears and Gorgeous George, Jr., in a tag team wrestling match in one of the main events next Thursday night at Rainbow Garden.

The McGuire Twins usually wind up smearing their foes but Spears and George have proved tough in previous matches here and figure to be hard to handle.

Iron Mike Wins Feature Garden Bout

Tucson Daily Citizen – August 16, 1962

Iron Mike DiBiase won the main event on last night’s professional wrestling card at Tucson Garden, taking the second and third falls from Silento Rodriguez.

Rocky Columbo copped the semi-main by winning two falls from Ken Lucas.  Big Jim Wright took the single fall City of Tucson elimination bout from Frankie Cain.

McGuire Twins Squash Hines

Panama City News-Herald – March 30, 1974

The McGuire Twins, all 1,400 pounds of them, won their wrestling match at Rainbow Garden, but it had an unusual twist.  When Bad Boy Hines went to the aid of Billy Spears and Gorgeous George, they fled the ring, leaving Hines to be squashed between the twins.

Dick Dunn and Ken Lucas beat Hines and Rock Riddle in a tag match.  Riddle won from Chief Thundercloud, and Duke Miller won his match with The Medic, who unmasked and revealed himself as Tony Gonzalez.

Cain, DiBiase Win Matches

Fargo, Ken Lucas Tangle Thursday

Kelly, Dalton To Team Up

Panama City News-Herald – August 21, 1972

Cowboy Bob Kelly, a favorite here, will team up with Frank Dalton in a tag team match against Black Bart and Bad Boy Hines next Thursday at Rainbow Garden.

Mike Boyette meets Eddie Sullivan in a “hippie” match, with no ropes and no referee, Ken Lucas and Billy Spears will have a return battle, and Dickie Parlor will take on a top Black wrestler, L. D. Lewis.
