Unable To Separate The Two Intertwined Bodies, They Had To Be Transported “In One Piece” To The Hospital

La Patrie – April 16, 1938

While wrestling at the Atwater Market, two wrestlers applied a leg lock to each other, rolled intertwined off the cables and, despite all the efforts of the coaches and some spectators, it was absolutely impossible to separate the two bodies. They had to be transported in one unit to the hospital where the doctors had to work for three quarters of an hour to detach the two victims from the mattress. The photograph above shows us, in the center and on the left, Henri Dufresne, supported by Aurèle Lebel, world wrestling champion, light heavyweight, and John Carochia; Mamoru Noguchi, the other wrestler, who the organizer Jos Samson, the usher Saint-Germain and Rolland Brousseau are trying to lift. We also notice a few spectators at the back. (Photo la “Patrie”)
