M’Gill Meets Grandovich In Albany Match

Schenectady Gazette – April 29, 1931

ALBANY, April 28. – Pat McGill, Toronto matman, will oppose John Grandovich, the Russian Bear, in Sports Club’s second wrestling show next Tuesday night in the 10th Infantry Armory, it was announced today.

McGill is one of the leading lights of the heavyweight division and Grandovich is rated among the comers in the game.

Westergard has arranged only one other bout, which brings together Jack Sherry and Harry Mamos, who bears the cognomen of the “Greek Wild Man.”  But he intends to close for two more tilts, one of which will feature Charley Metro, the New York Greek, who gave “Pink” Gardner, Schenectady light heavy, a hectic tussle in the first show.

Arrangements have already been made for a better seating arrangement at the Armory.  Officials were caught unawares with the tremendous attendance last Tuesday.
