Newburyport Daily News – August 28, 1954

The spectators will get a full portion of wrestling tonight at the Seaside Sports Arena, Salisbury Beach, where there will be four bouts, two of them listed as main events. One includes a pair of girl wrestlers, who always draw numerous spectators, so the management may even have to get the Standing Room only sign out — it hopes.

Alma Mills and Jean Hogan will be seen in the girl’s match and if it is anything like the one last week in which Slave Girl Moolah and Darling Dagmar took part it will be a keen one. The other co-feature will be wrestled by the Black Terror and Manuel Zuma.

The show will be opened by speedy Ronnie Hill and Gus Johnson at 8:30. This will be followed by a bout that possibly could be the best one of the night. Frank James, the colored champion, and the mighty, much-disliked, ever-tough Stanley Kowalski, the 254-pound giant.
