Claybourne And Kauffman As Team

The Dayton Daily News – February 9, 1942

“Gentleman” Jack Claybourne, popular Negro wrestling ace from Portland, Ore., and Clete Kauffman of Columbus are going to try their hand at tag team wrestling Wednesday night at Memorial hall when they face Toughey Cleet of Oklahoma and Wild Bill Zim of South America.

Clete and Jack have never worked as a team before but they made the combine because of old relationship.  It was Kauffman who induced Claybourne to come to the middle west about four years ago and for two years Kauffman served as manager for the Oregon athlete.

Zim and Cleet have been the sensation of team wrestling for nearly three weeks.

Ali Pasha, the bewhiskered Turk will again be seen in action here when he takes on Frankie Talaber of Chicago in the two out of three falls main event.

Under a new ruling of the Mid-West Wrestling association there can be no draw decisions rendered in future bouts.  The referee will give a decision on points in event no falls are scored by the principals.
