Slip Costs Dan Koloff Win Over Wrestling Champ

San Jose Evening News – August 8, 1933

SACRAMENTO, Aug. 8 (UP). – A slip and a champion’s agility lost Dan Koloff, Bulgarian challenger, his main chance for the heavy weight wrestling crown last night.

Koloff had Jim Browning, heavy weight champion, in excellent position for a body slam; if executed it would have probably been all over.  Suddenly he slipped.  Browning dropped to the floor and a second later pinned Koloff’s shoulders with a body press, giving him the deciding fall.

Browning took the first fall in 26 minutes with his vaunted airplane scissors.  A series of body slams gave Koloff the second fall.
