Savage, Anson To Vie In ‘Coal Miners’ Match

Eugene Register-Guard – December 29, 1977

Dutch Savage will meet John Anson in a special coal miners glove match Friday night to highlight the professional wrestling card at the Lane County Fairgrounds.

Both wrestlers will battle to see who can get a steel laced glove on top of a 12-foot pole, and whoever gets it can use it on his opponent.

In the main event, Jimmy Snuka will go against Northwest heavyweight champion Ed Wiskowski in a non-title bout, while Johnny Eagle tangles with Wildcat Young and newcomer Jerry Oates takes on Bob Kincaid in a pair of preliminary bouts.  Playboy Buddy Rose will meet Marc Hanna in the opener at 8 p.m.
