A record crowd of some 1,500 turned out at the Lane County Fairgrounds to watch big Killer Kris Taylor take on Andre the Giant in the feature match of the weekly pro wrestling card Friday night.

When it was over, each had recorded a fall in the eight-man tag team match but neither was involved in the decider, when Les Thornton stopped Buddy Rose.

That made a winner of Andre’s team, bolstered by Dutch Savage and Jimmy Snuka as well as Thornton.  Taylor lost along with teammates Sam Bass, Jesse Ventura and Rose.

In the first fall, Andre pinned Barr.  In the second, Taylor came back to stop Savage setting up the deciding third set.

In other matches, Jay Youngblood downed Dr. X in the semifinals and Gorilla Lollar whipped Ricky Hunter in the opener.
