Clinton – Promoters of tonight’s wrestling card at the Clinton Arena are billing it as a triple-threat attraction. Action starts at 8:30.
In the main event, Prince Maiava, the Samoa Island heavyweight, tackles Fritz von Erich. It’s a test which could indicate to fans whether Von Erich is more villainous than Hans Schmidt.
Supporting bouts include Ronnie Etchison against Lee Henning. The opener finds Joe Blanchard against rugged opposition in the person of Fred Atkins, the Australian Ironman.
Most of tonight’s performers are no strangers here. Maiava decisively beat Henning with judo chops and headbutts for a suspicious debut here two weeks ago.
About a year ago Von Erich attained nationwide prominence when he defeated Leo Nomennelli, a former collegiate star, who a month before had wrestled champion Lou Thesz to a one-hour draw.
