LAKE WORTH – Girl wrestlers Bonnie Watson and Rusty Ryan will meet in the feature bout at the weekly American Legion wrestling show tonight at 8:30 at the Legion Arena.
Miss Ryan, of Columbus, O, is a protégé of the famed wrestling promoter Billy Wolfe. Her ambition is to meet June Byers in a championship bout.
Miss Watson is a native of West Union, W.Va.
The bout will be two out of three falls, one hour limit.
Don Arnold, 235-pounder and former San Diego State University gridiron star, will meet Frank Taylor, also 235 pounds, in the semifinal, a two out of three falls, 45 minute limit bout. Arnold held the intercollegiate heavyweight wrestling championship and since turning pro has met the best, including Baron Leone, Lou Thesz and Buddy Rogers.
Taylor was seriously injured in an auto accident 10 years ago and is known in the wrestling fraternity as the “Come Back Kid.”
Jim LaRock, former Olympic champion, will meet newcomer Jim Coffield, 210-pounder from Kansas City, Mo., in the one-fall, 30-minute opener.
