The Sun, St. John, N. B. – December 11, 1906
The change in management of the York Theatre means that there will be no wrestling here this winter, as there is no other suitable place for the matches. This will be regretted by lovers of the mat game, as they were anticipating some more exciting bouts here this season between the famous exponents of the mat game.
At Sohmer Park on Friday night, Steurs, the big Belgian wrestler, defeated Pietro, in two straight falls, at Greco-Roman style.
The catch-as-catch-can bout between Perelli and Busch, was won by the former, by two straight falls. The time for the first was seven minutes and for the second, five. It was a good match, and the men put up a sporting fight, though they once engaged in fisticuffs. Perelli was clearly the better man, and the result was never doubted.
Busch wrestled here last winter, being defeated by Snable, the Bavarian.
