HOBART, Saturday. – A Hobart man, who was a former world champion professional wrestler and bodyguard to child screen star Shirley Temple, has been killed in a road smash near here.
He was Francois Fouche’s whose colourful career, which began as a circus trapeze artist, took him around the world.
Fouche, 78, was killed when his car and a mail van hit head-on yesterday.
Fouche, a 6ft 5in, 18-stone French-Canadian, was one of Hobart’s most colourful characters.
He arrived in Hobart in the late 1930s after a varied career which included being a medical student, a U.S. Army officer, a gridiron footballer and a wrestler.
