The Great Togo Bows To Clancy In Mat Feature

St. Petersburg Times – May 29, 1952

The Great Togo bowed to Mike Clancy last night in the feature event on the FNG mat card at N. Worth Gable Armory.

It was one of the roughest battles here in recent months.  Togo took the first fall with a body press in 16 minutes.

Clancy bounced right back to take the middle canto with a reverse full nelson and was awarded the final fall when the referee disqualified Togo for using illegal tactics.

Paddy Mack took the semifinal event from Joe Ludlum.  Mack copped the first and third falls.

Ike Eatins defeated Herbie Stein in the opening match.

As a special feature, Promoter Pat O’Hara presented Mas Togo, brother of the Great, in an exhibition between matches.
